Preparing for the Trip
As soon as the school year ended, my parents announced that we were going to spend our summer holiday at the seaside. I was so excited that I started packing my suitcase the same evening. I put in my favourite T-shirts, shorts, swimming trunks, sunglasses, and even a big inflatable flamingo. My mother reminded me not to forget sunscreen, because last year I turned as red as a tomato.
The Journey to the Seaside
The trip took almost ten hours by car. At first, I was full of energy, singing songs and taking pictures of everything outside the window. But after three hours I got tired and asked, “Are we there yet?” at least ten times. My father joked that he would install a mute button on me next summer. Finally, when I smelled the salty air and saw a glimpse of the blue sea in the distance, I forgot all my tiredness and pressed my face to the window like a child seeing a magic world.
First Day at the Beach
The moment we arrived, I ran straight to the beach without even changing my clothes. The warm sand felt soft under my feet, and the wind was whispering secrets from the ocean. I jumped into the water and shouted with joy, although it was colder than I had expected. Later, I collected colourful shells and even found one shaped like a small heart.
Making New Friends
The next morning, I met two kids from another city who were building a sandcastle. I asked if I could help, and soon we became good friends. We organised a sandcastle competition every day. My castle had three towers, but theirs had a water moat, so they won. We also played beach volleyball, searched for crabs near the rocks, and raced each other in the water.
An Unexpected Rescue
One afternoon, while exploring near the cliffs, we found a little injured seagull. Its wing was hurt, and it couldn’t fly. We wrapped it carefully in my towel and took it to a nearby animal rescue centre. The woman there thanked us and said that we were real heroes. I felt proud and realised that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
Magical Evenings Under the Stars
Every evening, we gathered on the beach to watch the sunset. The sky turned golden, pink, and purple like a painting. Sometimes, we had barbecues and played the guitar while listening to the gentle sound of the waves. One night, there was a meteor shower. I made a wish for the seagull to recover quickly and another one for myself—but I will keep it a secret.
What I Learned from My Summer Holiday
When it was time to leave, I didn’t want to say goodbye. I stood on the beach for a long time, watching the waves roll in and out. This summer holiday wasn’t just fun—it taught me about friendship, kindness, and patience. I realised that the best memories come not from expensive places, but from the people and moments that touch your heart.
